From Blueprint to Beautiful: Inside Our Signature Process with this Bathroom Renovation

Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at how this Tampa bathroom came to life. Walk with us through each phase of our Signature Process, from initial vision to the finished space.

The Brief

Our client dreamed of a space that felt updated and beautifully functional. She wanted a bathroom that balanced modern sensibility with a warm, welcoming feel.

Her wishlist included:

  • A balanced, modern aesthetic with some soul mixed in

  • A comfortable space that supported both everyday routines and moments of gathering

  • Quality installation she could trust

  • A design that felt like hers

The full project included a kitchen renovation, a fireplace feature wall, and this primary bath—all brought together through Social Swan Decor’s Signature Process.

#1 - Discovery

Discovery is where we learn how our clients live, what they value, and the design language that makes them feel most at home.

We began with a deep-dive questionnaire that revealed her love of travel, especially Italy and Normandy. She was drawn to a slightly rustic, lived-in elements she had seen in Europe but also wanted a modern look. It is common for clients to be attracted to several design styles when they come to us. Our job is to uncover and edit what the client really wants.

To start that task, we curated inspiration together. She gravitated toward classic zellige tile, which became the foundation of the bathroom design. She also shared that she prefers neutral colors but didn’t want the space to feel flat, and noted, “I’m attracted to geometric or linear patterns—anything off-balance makes me anxious.” Her clarity shaped many of our material decisions.

We reviewed the scope with the builder, aligned on the project budget, and clarified major updates like closing off a second doorway, adding built-in storage, designing a custom vanity, and completely reimagining the shower layout.

#2 Design Concept

This is the phase where ideas become a tangible plan.

We introduced a neutral zellige tile for the walls to strike the balance between rustic warmth and refined texture. Because she loves green, we added a pop of color through a statement chandelier. Keep reading to see why you won’t see that in the final design.

We collaborated with Couture Cabinetry on a slim Shaker vanity profile, which is modern and consistent with the cabinetry planned for her kitchen renovation.

As a single homeowner, she wanted ample countertop space. So we designed a single sink double vanity, maximizing both storage and usability.

To incorporate her love of geometry, we selected a patterned floor tile that brought dimension to the neutral palette. We also coordinated with the builder on shower structure, drainage, and glazing to ensure the design was both functional and elevated.

#3 Design Development

Design Development is where every detail is finalized and prepared for construction.

We selected champagne bronze fixtures for a softer alternative to brass that brought a romantic warmth to the entire home. We refined trim kits, tile lots, and grout colors to maintain the monochromatic look she loved.

We worked closely with vendors to ensure the we have quality product that fits within the overall budget. For example, the first chandelier exceeded the lighting budget, so we reselected a beautiful alternative. The first geometric floor tile we chose ended up having lots that varied significantly, so we chose an alternative tile that was close.

Every material was logged into a master specification sheet for the builder, along with CAD drawings that served as the project’s roadmap. These documents minimize errors, reduce delays, and ensure every detail aligns with the design vision.

Finally, we created photo-realistic renderings so she could see the space before installation, which is one of the most important tools in our process.

#4 Project Management

This is where design meets execution.

We worked closely with the builder and trades who performed key installations including tile, plumbing, and cabinetry to ensure the design translated correctly on site.

We troubleshot issues as they came up. (They always do.) For example, when the original sink didn’t fit perfectly within the custom vanity, we quickly pivoted and sourced a better size.

Our role during this stage is twofold:

  1. Advocate for the design and ensure accuracy

  2. Support our client through the natural stress of renovation

Renovations disrupt the entire home, and our job alongside the builder is to keep everything running smoothly with as little friction as possible.

#5 Installation

After weeks of construction, this is the moment everything comes to life.

We installed lighting, hardware, mirrors, and accessories—layering in the final touches that make a bathroom feel polished and complete.

The finished design is warm, textural, and effortlessly elevated:

  • Neutral zellige tile adds movement and old-world charm

  • Champagne bronze finishes bring warmth

  • The custom vanity balances storage with simplicity

  • Geometric flooring creates depth while staying cohesive

The transformation is serene, timeless, and beautifully personal.
